Not sure how to get some feedback on Puerto Galera. But if you are around let me know please. You are at the top of my list right now. :)

@Scandi Divers

Should be around shortly

While I have not yet had the pleasure of staying and diving with them yet, I have heard great things locally. He is also quite active in the Philippine Paradise sub... He's a good guy and will definitely help you out.

Philippine Paradise Divers

Puerto Galera diving is fantastic, what sort of feedback are you looking for, anything in particular?

Waters are warm and generally clear, lots of variety in sealife, from small to large(ish); Nudis to Triggerfish to turtles. Pretty well accessible from Manila. Good night life if that's your thing. Multiple retail dive shops available if you forgot/lose a piece of gear.

I hope that's a start for ya until Scandi chimes in:cheers:

So my main concern is getting to Puerto Galera from Manila. Is the seaplane always available? Is the seaplane fare $100.00?

As far as marine animals are concerned I know i will enjoy what is available to see. Including Banded Sea Kraits. I am a venomous reptile guy. ;)

Thanks for your input! :)

My pleasure!

The best I can offer you directly is just a link to their website.

Seaplane Flights in the Philippines

From there you can check availability for whatever dates you're looking at. But I believe that their seaplanes are available on an "as booked" basis. So if you'd like a flight to PG, schedule it and it's yours (I think). As I recall, the fare is around $100 a person, but again, I'm not 100% as I've not personally flown them yet. Additional baggage weight may apply depending on number of passengers. (Fuel to Weight ratio is a big concern in smaller aircraft)

What I can tell you is I've had a few friends fly with them and they rave about the experience; Quick, Convenient, and Friendly. I will definitely try flying with them sometime, just not sure when. Hopefully Scandi will be able to chime in soon with his personal experience.

If, by chance, Air Juan isn't available, it shouldn't prove too difficult to get from Manila to Batangas Public Port or, better, Berberabe Port to catch a boat to PG. I would expect 4 to 5 hours from Manila Airport to PG depending on traffic and sea conditions in the channel between Luzon Island and Mindoro Island.

Regarding the Banded Sea Krait, yep! They're around! Hopefully you'll get to see one. Venomous reps are awesome, I was an Arizona guy before moving to The Philippines, I actually miss the gila monsters and rattlers!

Good luck to ya, I hope you make it out here!

So what their website shows is $103.00 for up to 22 pounds of luggage. I will be bringing my reg and mask and just enough clothing so I might make that travel weight. Buying t-shirts in Sabang will make for lighter luggage. ;)

...makes for lighter luggage (on the way there ) and great souvenirs! Good plan! If you haven't been there yet, I think you'll enjoy Puerto Galera and will want to go back as soon as possible

Cheers!

Here's a reptile guy I spoke to many years ago. Mario Lutz. He had a reptile zoo in Puerto Galera.
