Attaching spring straps

I recently purchased some Manta spring straps online, and im getting ready to attach them to my IDI Power Fins. However, Im not sure what the best way is to get the old straps off. Any suggestions?

well, here is the brute solution. i used two sets of pliers and basicall pulled/twisted the hardware apart. not very elegant. cutting it with a dremel would be classier.

The "U" shaped pieces will spread out with a screwdriver and pop free.

No harm, no problem. IDI does not peen the ends.

SP does peen the ends. Dremel time on those.
