A "safer" way than direct connection with a zip tie is to use a o-ring folded over the d-ring and then zip tie to whatever you want. This allows you to cut (or break) the o-ring if needed and not worry about the zip tie. This is analogous to using cave line connections but it is not as strong a connection.
