Does anyone dive the atomic B2 with the SS1 breathable inflater? What do you think?

I own two sets of exactly that setup. I absolutely love them. I use one my wife uses the other.

My daughter's ScubaPro MK25SA also has an Atomic SS1 attached to it.

Another nice benefit of the SS1 is that you just unscrew it from the corrugated hose.
Once you do that it makes it simple to flush the inside of the BC bladder with fresh water after every dive day (especially when diving in salt water).

One thing to keep in mind with any combination regulator/inflator. You should use a long hose on your primary. The primary will be the regulator that you will donate so the longer hose will facilitate air sharing.

I used the SS1 when I started, but have since switched to the necklaced backup style. I had it coupled with the T2 second stage as my primary.

After doing drills, and having to actually share air a couple times in bad situations, I found I dislike having to fool with an inflator that I was breathing off of. It's performance as a regulator was flawless, it functioned as an inflator flawlessly, but for me personally when combining the two functions is a must I did not like it one bit.

If you do chose to go the SS1 route, be sure to drill and practice air share drills where you have to breath off the SS1 AND control bouyancy and your buddy and such with it at the same time.

I found I ran out of hands...But that's the beauty of diving. Different things work for different people. Just be sure you know and practice what you might have to do in a situation with it before you HAVE to get out of a situation with it.

Other than that...enjoy and safe diving!

Ditto what Cyclops said regarding using any inflator/reg combo. I prefer an octo.

My wife used the B2+SS1 combo and really likes it. She likes the nice large inflate/deflate buttons on the SS1. I use a b2 with a "normal" octo - Aeris Gyro - wish I had gone ahead and gotten a Z2 as an octo though....

What I have thought about doing...since I did enjoy the HUGE buttons on the SS1 is to go completely overkill.

Use a necklaced backup in addition to the SS1.

I dont think it's all that much extra...But I dunno...Just thinkin in type!
