Ok so I have the atomic z2 and want to add a swivel to the 1st stage. Is that something that you shouldn't do? Or would have no problems. I'm not impressed that the turret on the 1st stage doesn't rotate or move. very frustrating. your thoughts?

What problem are you trying to fix? I have the B2 which has the 1st stage swivel, but once it's mounted on the tank, it really can't move much anyway.

I wonder if going to braided hoses would help?

I put a braided hose on my HOG second stage and it helped quite a bit with the flexibility and pulling on my second stage. It is more comfortable now, if that is the OP's issue.

The Atomic Comfort Swivel is a good upgrade, but not a cheap one. I added one to my GF's Oceanic reg and she felt it was definitely a big improvement. Alternately, you might also try switching to a Miflex Xtreme LP hose for roughly half the price of the Atomic option. I believe there are also a few deferent brands of swivel adaptors available to convert your existing hose setup as well.

I agree with Travis, once the reg is mounted and the hoses pressurized, the 1st stage swivel is functionally useless as your shortest hose dictates how much it moves. Often that's the power inflator.

If the issue is mouth comfort, either Miflex or Atomic also sells their 2nd stage Comfort Swivel - I think it's around $100. (including hose?)

So just tying up loose comments. I got the miflex 32" lp hose. and it works perfect. I will prolly be changing over all of my hoses over to those. Simply amazing.

I bought the swivel adapter which was an improved however I think swapping the rubber hose for a miflex would be ideal. Anyone know if atomic swivel and miflex hose are compatible?

I found that for single tank setup, the 1st state swivel does very little. The position of the swivel will be more or less fixed because of the LPI or/and drysuit hose. So if you are diving single tank, I would say not worth to spend the money. It makes more sense for double tank setup, especially on the right post.

I've been toying with the idea of going to Miflex hose. I have a B2. The problem is that Atomic's swivel is permanently attached to the hose, so if you swap hose you have to go with an after market swivel like the "XS Scuba Swivel Adapter". Once you remove the hose, there is an adapter that is about an inch long that converts from 9/16" (standard hose size) to something larger. The 9/16" shank on the 2nd stage is very long and might not look too good with the miflex attached. Here is a picture!

Anyone with a B2 tried using Miflex hoses?
