Just out of curiosity, what will the M1 give you that the B2 doesn't? I'm asking because as a tech diver, my B2 is my left post reg on every dive. Works great.

To be more specific, I'd eventually like to pick up cave and get set up with the M1 cave ring. It's a bit further down the line for me but I'd like to get set up sooner than later!

There is absolutely no reason to sell a B2 to migrate to an M1. The M1 uses the alloy Monel for the Piston, the swivel cap retainer and one or two components in the second stage. In addition, the second stage has a brass inlet tube with, if I recall correctly, a Zirconium plating.

Yes for deco regulators with high oxygen content (50 to 100%), Titanium is not an ideal material. For back-gas where you have a 21% or lower oxygen content, then it doesn't matter. You can install an M1 Cave ring on any Atomic second stage. Recall that the performance and construction of all Atomic regulators differ only in the material.

If you absolutely want to sell your B2, I'll offer $200 for it. Yes, it's a ridiculously low offer meant to sway you to keep your B2.

Not meaning to turn yer sale in to a discussion but ...

Spend $75 or whatever it is and buy the DIN fitting then you can use the reg with DIN tanks for tech diving but still have a yoke reg for traveling and rec diving. (DIN to yoke adapters work but a PITA at times). Then sell the second stage swivel hose and replace it with a 5' or 7' hose. Then you have the first half of a side mount or doubles rig.

No way, I'm appreciating all of the info! I didn't realize that the M1 cave ring was compatible with all Atomic second stages (makes sense, durr). Also I was considering doing exactly that with the DIN fitting in case I decided not to sell - keeping yoke for now since I'm travelling, but planned on grabbing the DIN fitting and converting over once I get home. Already got the 5' hose as well! Thanks all!

The B2 and M1 cover rings may share the same thread size to the body but the two cover rings and front covers are different... they may fit BUT not optimal interface.
B2 cover ring has a radiused outer edge and fits through the ring with a square shoulder vs M1 has a square section cover ring and the front cover is radiused.

The second stage cases for all of the Atomic regs is the same (other than a small change 10 years ago that has no affect on this discussion). So one can mix and match all they want. The only difference is the cover ring for all of the T1,B1,Z1, etc covers does not work with the T2,B2,Z2, etc covers. The M1 cover and ring differs from all.

The M1 cave ring is a complete assembly that replaces the front cover, cover ring, and retaining ring. One can not use a B2 cover with it.
