hi,

I'm a newly certified diver, and I was curious to know if there are any submerged "booty" locations in southern ca.

thanks!

yes. Spanish galleons from Manila, Cabrillo's sword, all the stuff that dreams are made of.

Finding it may be something else.

with the right dive buddy (say jessica alba), i suppose there could be a good chance of finding submerged booty... :mooner:

Well I use a metal detector on land for a passtime and I tend to find old cool stuff where history happened. I went to the library and looked at old pictures to find where people use to gather and that is where I search.
Find where the old ships use to pass and maybe there are some wrecks along the way. I think to find some real "Booty" you'll have to do a little research and plan your own little expedition.
You might want to get one of those underwater metal detectors and do some beach dives, everything washes on and off the beach. A good time to do that is right after a storm when the sand is turned and moved around a bit.
Personally, I would go for the metal detector off the beach cause you dont have to pay for a boat and you could do it more often. It takes time to find the cool stuff so dont get discouraged too quickly. Good Luck, I hope you find some cool things!
