Dates are 8/28 to 9/5. Add about $56 if you want to check a bag each way. Still a lot cheaper than Delta (even without a bag).

Looks like if you go Sat to Sat (8-31 to 9-7) Delta would be $591 or ~ $650 if you want to pick a seat, direct to Cozumel. That would include a checked bag.

I’ve never done the bag drag. What is it worth to you to fly direct to Coz instead of Cancun?

Direct to Coz has a lot of benefits for me, so it’s a good value (to me) if it’s only a few hundred more $ per person.

Are you sure that includes a checked bag? I had to pay for my bag when I flew with ff miles on my last visit. Never mind. I re-read your post.

I've done both. Some folks don't drag a bag very far. They pay about $39 for a one way flight from CUN to CZM. To me, I kind of like the bag drag. But, it's about three hours all in with the ferry ride.

Delta really pissed me off when they reduced flights to once a week.

I have been watching for flights to try and take a quick trip and AA has jacked the prices up pretty high to CUN from DFW for the rest of July through at least early August. I really don't get it. I checked a few of the flights using Seat Guru and they are not 1/3 full. Prices are $500-650 before picking your seat or checked bags. I guess if fewer people are going they are going to have to pay more and then AA saves on fuel due to hauling less weight.

I have an Delta AMEX card, so if I use that card to book my flights, the first checked back is always free (for anyone’s flight for whom I paid) Y’all should look into that.

The condo where we stay in Coz (El Cantil) mostly is Sat to Sat rentals. So they fit nicely with Delta’s Saturday flights. I may go ahead and book for May of 2020 as a reserved seat is ~$650 pp. I’m not sure it will go lower. If it does, I may snag it. I checked on the small flight from CUN to COZ a while back, but it was a pretty tight connection for us.

I guess for a couple hundred $, I’m willing to go direct to Coz.

My Amex will give me a $200 credit towards expenses like baggage fees on an airline of my choosing. Being in ATL, I choose Delta. My wife has their Delta Platinum card, and that gets us a few things when she doesn't qualify as Medallion status. The baggage is one thing (free), but we also get to pick exit row (good for me at 6-04). When I travel by myself, I only get the benefit of being credited up to $200 of extra expenses.

My biggest beef is that I could choose to fly in and out of CZM seven days a week. Now, it's mostly limited to Saturdays.

On my upcoming trip, I used miles. To save work vacation days, I couldn't fly to CZM. I am forced to do the bag drag, or see about flying between CUN and CZM. I am mostly pissed that I waited when I had a window where the FF miles was 28,000. I ended up paying about 20% more waiting for my dive buddy, AND I still don't have a decision from him!
