So I think I have a mild case of Althlete's foot from my dive boots. Some redness and itching, but not a lot of skin peeling or anything too gross. I'm treating it with one of the generic anti-fungals from the pharmacy (I don't know which at the moment since it's back in my apartment).

So is there a way to treat my dive boots to prevent it from coming back? Or do I need to just throw the boots and buy new ones?

Is there a good way to prevent this in general?

Hi HungoverDiver,

You don't need to throw out your booties.

1. Remove booties & dry feet well between dives.
2. Keep feet dry after diving; wear open shoes; if you wear socks, wear only cotton ones. Treat feet with a soothing antifungal such as http://www.zeasorb.com/products/athletes-foot.html.
3. Rinse booties after diving & dry thoroughly overnight.
4. Periodically disinfect booties with a product such as Vikron S or http://steramine.com/.
