Expected to strengthen before possible North Carolina strike. From Arthur 2014: 5 Day Forecast Map | Weather Underground

I was really unhappy to see one form this early in the season, but I'm happy it formed north of us and doesn't look like it will make landfall until Greenland . Then the last track I saw takes it into Great Britain. Odd.

I'm moving to NC next week. We bought a place about 60 miles west of Wilmington on the SC border. I hope our house doesn't get crushed by fallen trees!
Our new place is 21 acres, mostly thick, long leaf pine and oak forest. Lots of giant trees around the house. We'll have our very own, 3 acre pond to fish.
We also have a very large spring and a creek. It will be interesting to see how our property stands up to a hurricane.
I'm kind of disappointed to miss it. I really miss the wicked storms we had in OK, except for the F5 tornadoes.

It may not have the strength to last that long, and may not make actual landfall, but it seems it will skirt the NC coast hard enough. Hatteras Island will be under mandatory evacuation Thursday.

The current forecast seems to suggest it will spare your property of the high winds expected on the coast. Sounds like a nice place. Hope it does have a sturdy, above ground storm shelter for future risks.

It made Cat-2 and landed on NC, now continuing up the coast with additional land effects possible.
