I own a pair of body-boarding fins, which fit me really well, but they are short, with 3 little raised fins on the top. They look like seal fins. when I got certified to dive i took their longer fins. these ones really hurt my feet with blisters...so my question is, are my short fins good enough to dive in? As I went on my first two dives with them before I got certified and i was quite comfortable.

Well they won't kill you, so go ahead and try them out.. then borrow someone's normal scuba fins and compare.

if you are comfortable, and safe, then i don't see why not

are they enough to propell all your bulk (with gear and tank on) through the
water efficiently? if so... i don't see why not

however, maybe the problem is that you haven't tried a better alternative. the
fins you did try which gave you blisters don't count.

maybe you could try a few different rental fins and see how they feel compared to
your old ones

also, it sounds like you have full-foot fins (if they gave you blisters?). have you
tried booties and open-heeled fins? the booties will protect your feet, and maybe
you can find fins you like better
