It’s all in the Subject…

Are transmitters all vendor (or even computer model) specific, or are some of them the same device and can be used with dive computers from different vendors?

In other words, do (for example) Shearwater transmitters work with Mares computers, Oceanic transmitters with ScubaPro, etc.

Or are there families of transmitters?

The only brand interchangeable transmitters I am aware of are those made by Pelagic Pressure Systems for Aqualung (their owner), Oceanic (former owner), Sherwood, Aeris, and I think Shearwater. Did I miss any?

And Suunto has two distinct units, the pod for the Eon series and the new D5, and the original for all other Suunto AI.

All transmitters do not work with all computers. Though some transmitters with work with different computers.
Pelagic Pressure Systems wireless air transmitters (FCC ID MH8A) is compatible with specific models of Shearwater Research, Hollis, Oceanic, and Aeris brand dive computers that support hoseless air integration.
