Just purchase a simple aqualung retractor. The only problem is, one end of the retractor is supposed to hold the plastic hook. I have no idea how to get the retractor open to get the plastic clip held in place.

Anyone manage to get one of these opened?
 
Do you have a link to a picture of the retractor you're talking about? There are a lot available.

If you look at the picture close enough you will see a black plastic hook with a loop attached to it that is designed to be integrated into the retractor itself. The only problem is that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to open the retractor to attach the hook (there are two holes at one end of the retractor that end of the hook feeds through.

Ugh. I've been playing with this thing for over an hour :confused:

The end result is that clip should be held "inside" the retractor EXACTLY like the top portion in this picture:
