I am looking for a decent or evan new ** aqualung mistral .. Double hose regulator .... If any one sees one out there let me know ... Thanks for your help fred

Which one, the original 50s-60’s models or the later (2000s) model?
And if you are looking for the "new" 2000s model you would much much better off contacting Vintage Double Hose and getting an Argonaut Kraken when more are available- soon from what I hear. They were designed and developed by guys who know and dive double hose regs.....I am not too sure who designed the new Mistral but it is a poor design. There is no comparison in the performance of the 2, you will be much happier with the AK...and to be open, I was on the design/prototype/test team for the AK and regularly dive one of the first prototypes (today in fact).

I have a mistral I purchased last year. I used it a few times but the crap I got from some not very experienced DMs I seldom use it. I also have it set up with a hose connect to my dry suit. I might be interested in selling it now that I am using a DSLR in housing and bubbles don't interfere with shooting pictures. It has the manual, case, gages, and octo. I paid 650.00 for the mistral. Make me an offer if your interested and I send you some pics. Most of the gages and that were used but checked with dive shop to make sure they were good.

Wow thanks for the quick responses ... Just got one new in the box .. After 2 months had 3 show up at the same time ... Rayalln why did dm give you crap ? Im presently doing my padi dm course here in florida ... Just got one of these to play with it ... Nothing like hands on .... I looks at all the vintage stuff ... Old ! Trust issues :(

Don't worry about the know it alls, DM or not, just ignore them and show them an example of what a good diver really looks like. I for one enjoy them, their buoyancy and skills are usually sub par and I make a point of showing them how it's done. I encourage you to learn about double hose diving and if at all possible find someone near you who regularly dives double hoses be they vintage or modern. Double hose regs must be dove in a particular manner to get the best out of them. It's not hard or difficult to learn but you must dive them correctly to get the best out of them, this is esp. true of regs like the new Mistral which are not the best performers to start with. First thing you need to learn is you almost certainly can not use your current BC with a DH and get it positioned correctly. Modern BCs were not designed with DH regs in mind and do not allow you to place the reg low enough or hold it close enough to your body. A DH will work and supply you gas if worn incorrectly but you will not likely be happy with it's performance.

Yeah, I am also doing my DM and also Research diver. The DM was only with the dive op for a very short time before he was let go. Personally I think he thought he know more and was better than he actually was, perhaps an ego thing. I am kinda thing about a Frog 2 rebreather but have not totally made up my mind yet.

ive the apecks black ice .. With steel 100 hp there short and it will allow me a lower mnt. ? Lol at least i hope ... Ill let you know .. Thanks :)

Looking at the BC, it might work since there is one tank strap. It would be helpful if you fashioned a crotch strap of some kind. It may sound trivial but it would also be helpful if you ditch the 100 for at least an AL80 or better yet a steel 72. Reason being, the larger the diameter of the tank, the farther from your back the reg will set which has a significant impact on performance. Half an inch is a big deal and an inch or more turns a good performing reg into a dog.
