I am thinking of purchasing an Aqualung Mikron regulator. Does anyone have any experience using this type and could provide any additional information about it. I am looking for something made for women (a little smaller) since my jaw is always so tired after a dive from the Aqualung Titan.

Hi there, welcome to Scubaboard.

A regs comfort can be affected by mouth piece and/or hose length. Try a different mouth piece, seacure or comfobite (although the Titan being AL probabaly has one) make sure your hoses arent too long (pushing) or too short (pulling).

The Titan is a very good reg so would think hard before changing. The Mikron is also a good breather but due to its small size you will suffer from bubble interference from the exhaust T. If you take photos it can be problematic. I owned an old Micra (older version of Mikron) breathed nice and although I kind of got used to the bubbles in my face I now dive a standard sized reg and wouldnt go back.

Good luck.

PS I'm not sure how many dives you have but sometimes newer divers tend to bite down on their mouth piece which can also cause jaw fatigue. Maybe try relaxing your bite a little

My daughter (now 18) has about 100 dives on a Mikron and loves it. She chose it for the smaller size, and has not complained to me, at least about bubble interference from the exhaust. She does use a camera, but may not realize any issue since this was her first reg. My wife (diving candidate taking her OW this fall) is considering the Mikron as well because my daughter likes it so much and for its size.

I have a small mouth and always had problems with my jaw being tired or sore after classes or diving until I switched to the smaller Comfobite mouthpiece (the one that comes standard on the pink Mikron). I have an Apeks that came with the standard size comfobite and had my dive shop order me the smaller ones. They made all the difference in jaw comfort. I also just switched the stock hose to a shorter miflex to stop the hose from pushing the regulator out of my mouth on the right side after I saw how messed up it really was in some pictures.

+1 on Comfibite mouthpieces

My daughter (now 20) used a Micra until recently, she is now using a Mares Proton and loves it.

My wife uses the Mikron and loves it for its size, weight and style. She does however concede that her previous reg, a standard sized TUSA RS-240 breathed better. Don't underestimate the value of moldable mouthpiece. Try putting one on your Titan. It might solve your issues.
