I recently picked up my first set of gear. I had a chance to dive with an instructors Mikron and really liked it, so I got one. Im currently running a Suunto Zoop with an analog spg. I am wanting to get a backup wrist computer with wireless air integration. Is there any way to hook up the transmitter and the spg with only 1 high pressure fitting on the 1st stage of the regulator?

As far as I know, you would need to manufacture a spliter of some sort. I believe this may not give you an accurate read though.

Why do you want to have a backup SPG? I love having just the analog SPG and have many friends who just have a transmitter to AI wrist and love it.

I really like the idea of having my air info on my wrist, but I also have some reservations about relying on a battery powered machine for that rather important info at depth.

As you progress in diving, you get a hold of how much air you use. There are plenty of threads on here about finding out your SAC rate (how much air you breath at the surface vs. at depth) and can then plan your dives to the amount of gas you will need. At that point, there is very little need for your PSI to be displayed. You still check you pressure but only to make sure that nothing weird is going on.
I will be getting a micron set for single tank diving next summer. I will not miss having four HP ports between my two first stages (Scubapro MK25s). I only need one.

Back to your OP, I think that the best way to have both an analog SPG and an AI transmitter is to have two HP ports. An option would be to get the Apeks flight first stage which is just as small and light, breaths better and has two HP ports. The problem would then be having to pay for a second first stage.

I wouldnt be averse to a second first stage, can you buy an apeks first stage by itself? And I know air usage will become second nature, but I like to have my available air where I can see it. Another thing i like about the wrist top computer is dive time left based on available air/consumption. Im still a pretty heavy breather so alot of times in normal rec diving at reasonably shallow depths ill hit low air before I get to NDL. It would be nice to have it. Ill look into a second first stage, and might try a few dives with no spg, just the wrist comp. Thanks for the advice.

Diabetic,
If you do, indeed, get a second computer be sure that both algorhythms are the same. If they are not, it will be possible to bend the more conservative of the two, while being within NDL with the other. By the way, the Zoop, which is a very slightly upgraded Gekko, is a fine and reliable computer.
