I currently have an Aqualung Legend and Legend Octo. I am considering upgrading to an Atomic B2, if I get a first/2nd stage B2, and I use my AL Octo with it, would that mean I still need to get my Octo serviced once a year and everything else every 2 years?

The balanced AL 2nds (LX and Legend) are an Apeks model......and when they are called an Apeks they have a 2 year service interval.

Yes except you are not upgrading.

The only real difference is the Atomic turns the venturi for you.
All the balanced adjustables are very very similar.

I use an Atomic B2 primary and 1st stage, and an Apeks XTX50 octo. They're within IP working tolerances, so it's not an issue, as far as the 1st stage. Works very well for me, and I get them both serviced every other year.

As for the the B2 not being an upgrade, I'm not a Legend user, so can't comment on that model, however, as for breath-ability, there's a reason the B2 is the primary, and the Apeks is the octo...

Your saying an Atomic B2 is worse then the AL Legend?

Worse no but the Atomic is not better performance wise and you are giving up a lot benefits of the Legend. You are trading a diaphragm first stage for a piston second stage so you are losing some environmental sealing and the adjustability a diaphragm first stage offers. The seconds are pretty much the same basic design. The Atomic has some "features" that IMO are not worth much, so no gain there and you are giving up a much larger worldwide service network. What is this getting you except money out of your pocket and being one of the cool divers who dive Atomic?
