I am looking at getting a pair of aqualung quick lock tank bands for my transpac. Does anyone have any experience with them? Any advice would be welcomed

I just got a pair about a month or so ago.

I had already tried a different style of quick release tank straps (marketed by Edge-HOG) and did not really like them. I got a really good deal on the Aqualung Griplock tank straps and mounted one on the lower position of my wife's backplate...

...to be honest, neither one of us really care for either style of quick connect tank strap and luckily we had a pair of standard ones that we could mount on her rig for her.

I still have a quick release strap on my backplate for the lower strap but will probably remove it and replace it with a normal cam strap bogarted from my daughter's rig until I get around to purchasing one to replace it with.

I just find the quick release cam straps, regardless of brand, to be too fidgety compared to using standard cam straps...I can't find a reason to recommend anyone else spend money on something that complicates things as opposed to making them easier.

QD cam straps seem like a good concept on paper but in real life, in my opinion, they fall a bit short.

I have been using Scubapro BCs with their super cinch tank bands since 2002. I have had an Aqua Lung Outlaw with their Griplock tank band since 2017.

My BCs all use a single tank band. Both brands work fine, I have never had a loose cylinder with either, many more dives with Scubapro. The cylinders are very stable. Personally, I like the feel and throw of the Scubapro handle better than the Aqua Lung handle, this is not a big deal.

I have always liked not having to lift my BC on and off the cylinder when changing over, quick, easy, and secure. Particularly useful in big seas.

If international shipping didn't make it impractical, I'd trade you a set of OMS "traditional" bands for them.

I find the QC style much easier since I tend to do it at table height with a loaded weight integrated BC.

Despite using QC bands, I take out my weight pockets when changing over, makes handling the BC so much easier.

I do realize that I could do that. Naaaah. Seems like too much trouble ...

If you mean the Aqualung griplock bands, then I absolutely love them. Takes a bit of fidgeting to get them just right (not that much), but especially when you always dive the same tank, it's a cinch to use. And the tank is very securely fixed.

I have them on both my Axiom i3 BCD's. Absolutely love them. Once you have them adjusted for tank size, it's easy peasy with no fuss no muss! They simply work great!

Scubapro Super Cinch cam straps are the bees knees. I have them on 3 BPWs and 2 BCs. Make changing tanks a breeze and they've never let me down in over 20 years.

I actually found q used pair for a good price and had to try them out. Did 2 dives with them yesterday, and they to work just fine. Im not sure how much easier they are to swap tanks, but im sure i will get the hang of it. Also while doing my second dive, they loosened up. I had to have my dive buddy tighten them down for me.
