Just wondering if there is a diference between the Pro QD and the Pro QD+????

Just sitting here at work but i'm pretty sure I own a Pro QD +, traditional velcro weight pouches on mine, I may, might,kinda heard? that the Pro QD + had nicer trim, Like a special anniversary model. I'm 99.9% certain that I have a Pro QD +, It's at home in our scuba closet, I'll get back to you

Charlie99:
Seaquest relaced the velcro weight pockets with a plastic clip system. 2 or 3 years ago IIRC. I believe that is when they added the + to distinguish between the two types of weight pockets.

As Charlie said the + has the plastic clip system. If you own the original, like I do, the velcro wears out somewhere bettween 50-70 dives and the weight pouches become self ditching. Most disconcerting and extremely dangerous. If you have the original I would personally recommend NOT using the weight pouches and wearing a weight belt instead. I have ten pounds in the non ditchable pockets. I used soft weights and found they too will work themselfs out after too many hard boat rides. I cured that by sewing them in.
I still use this BC and have something around 400 dives on it. It is comfortable and has good trim characteristics. With the exception of the weight pockets, the pro-qd is made very well. I use it for most of my single tank diving, even with my vintage double hose regulators. I have a bpw for more involved stuff or when I want to dive my doubles.

Interesting. I had well over 800 dives on my old Quickdraw which had the same velcro pockets as the later Pro QD, (actually, the QD stands for quick draw) and never had a pocket come loose. When I sold it, it was bleached gray from the sun, but still held air like a champ and the velcros on the pockets were fine.
My g/f has a Pro QD+ Anniversary Model with velcro pockets with over 200 dives on it, and she has never had a problem with the pocket velcros. I have a later Pro QD+ with the Sure Lock pockets. When they first came out there were reports of lost weights with them. I have never had a problem with this type on over 450 dives.

I mean I am lookng at the seaquest Pro Qd + on leisure Pro so I mean is that what I want???

I really have to disagree, My PRO QD+ has traditional velcro weight pockets, so I was pretty certain that the + didn't stand for the new plastic clips on the new pro model's weight system, and I agree with the posts before reguarding the velcro weight system. I have well over 300 dives on my velcro weight pockets, they seem as tight as the day I bought the BC, I usually only have 5 pounds in each, never acted like they were going to drop at the wrong time.

Thanks for the correction.

I liked my velcro pockets enough that as they brought out the surelok system 2 or 3 years ago I went ahead and bought a 2nd velcro pocket Pro QD(+ ??) so I would have one to leave permanently in Maui. The one I have here has around 300-400 dives on it and the only problem is that older, thinner pockets are beginning to show significant wear in the areas where solid lead blocks rub. The new, slightly fatter velcro pockets don't have this problem.

Simply cleaning the stray lint and hair out of the hooks of the pockets has kept then in good shape for several years.

Velcro is great for the 4 pounds per pocket I use with a 3/2 wetsuit, but I'd be uncomfortable putting more than the 7# per pocket I use with a 5mm full.

===============

So if the + isn't for the surelok pockets, has anybody figured out what features did get changed?

Charlie, I hope you have enjoyed diving with your Seaquest BC like I have, I know I feel pretty Comfortable loading up my velcro pockets with 4-5 lbs but as Jim earlier explained I feel more comfortable loading some of my weights on a weight belt, especially Diving Ohio quarries with a 7mm wetsuit. Seaquest put out their surelok Pro QD+ about a year after I bought mine with the velcro pockets....drats. It would have been nice for the owners of the velcro pockets to be able to retrofit to the surelok, How many of us have bought a new car only to have a better designed model the next year?
