Do you like apples or oranges better? If it has to be between these two, personally I’d get the mares because it’s a back inflate. Might help put you in trim better.

I like firm, ripe, sweet Gala and Fuji apples and hate all the rest. And for oranges I only like sweet blood red oranges and Valencias and the rest are trash. Oh yeah, and they should be biodynamic, organic and preferably fed with 7 to 10 day deep bubbled humic tea with seabird and bat guano and then thoroughly flushed 10 to 12 days prior to harvest, So as you could clearly see I'm pretty specific in my taste. So yeah, things like quality, materials, durability, features and back inflate or not definitely are key.

I don’t have any experience with the Aqua lung, my step father and his brother both have the Mares Pure SLS BCD. They like it, it has tons of lift if you need it. I like that it is back inflate. It’s not that heavy or bulky. Ditching weights is easy, although you shouldn’t need to if you’re properly weighted. Both BCD’s only come with one cam band so I recommend buying another and putting it on the BCD. I like the stainless buckle and webbing on the Pure instead of a cumber-bun and plastic buckle. They also added some trim weight pockets to the top cam band to help with trim.
