Eight weeks ago I had appendicitis, uncomplicated, and got my appendix removed.

My fitness is just about up to pre-op levels...is there any accepted time-frame for diving after surgery?

Eight weeks post uncomplicated appendicitis and appendectomy with near premorbid fitness level (assuming fitness level was appropriate for safe scuba) is well within the typical framework for return to diving.

Your physician, of course, needs to provide medical clearance and this probably can be handled by phone.
