I'm a Fish!
for those Apeks "gurus" out there, a (hopefully) simple question:

On the XTX 50, is the primary hose (from 1st to 2nd stage) a 3/8" size, or other size (1/2" perhaps)?

The reason ? Apparently, Apeks makes a "swivel" hose (so 2nd stage will move more comfortably) in 3/8", but looking at my XTX50 hose, I see only "conti 06 / 06" and the warning not to exceed 30 bar, etc...

Thanks in advance for those Apeks experts that can enlighten me!

I believe the new Apeks 1st stages only have 3/8" LP connections.

That said, if you're looking for a solution for the 2nd stage "pulling" in your mouth, you could consider a Miflex hose instead. *Much* cheaper than the Apeks swivel option and might solve your problem.

I haven't tried hoses with swivels, but it is my understanding that the swivel doesn't move freely once the hose is pressurized.

Yeah I believe the ATX were the last generation to use the larger Diameter Connections.

+1 on the Miflex, saving weight while improving mobility.

I thought XTX,ATX etc denoted the second stage?

I have both ATX and XTX seconds. All the first stages are DS4's which have all smaller size (3/8) LP ports.

The DST first stage has a turret that rotates and used to have one larger (1/2") PL port. That may well have changed recently though.

I recently Rebuilt a ATX200 and that had the 1/2" LP port. maybe it depends on the build year.

The ATX line of Apeks second stages were paired with various first stages.
ATX50 - DS4 or DST (for DS4, all 3/8" LP ports; for DST, one 1/2" LP port, the rest 3/8" LP ports)
ATX100 - FST (one 1/2" LP port, the rest 3/8" LP ports)
ATX200 - FSR (one 1/2" LP port, the rest 3/8" LP ports)

The XTX line of Apeks second stages are paired with a slightly updated line of first stages (AFAIK, the DS4 is unchanged):
XTX50 - DS4 or DST (all 3/8" LP ports)
XTX100 - FST (all 3/8" LP ports)
XTX200 - FSR (all 3/8" LP ports)

Feel free to verify this info on the Apeks website.

With the first stage in hand, you should be able to tell the size of the LP ports. If they're all the same size, then you have all 3/8" LP ports. If one LP port is slightly larger than the others, then you have one 1/2" LP port.

Divegearexpress.com sells a relatively inexpensive 1/2"-to-3/8" adapter that I've been using with a Miflex reg hose on my FST with 1/2" LP port. Works fine.

Ditto; just change FST to FSR in the last para, & where I sourced the 1/2"-to-3/8" adapter.
