All you Apeks fans along with the local tech divers have sold me on Apeks. I am ordering two tx50's for my tech kit and want to know any opinions on the DST vs DS4 first stages. Pros and cons related to tech diving. I think that the swivel could be useful but are there any differences in performance?

Thanks for the help.

Chris

I know most tech divers prefer the DS4 over the DST - the DST has a 1/2" port that is considered unnecessary by a lot of people. I personally find the swivel turret on my DST annoying, and it is considered anothe possible failure point by others.

Personanlly I prefer the DST in my deco bottle... I like the swivel for the way the hose lays flat on the tank and then swivels up and around my neck when deployed. The 1/2" port if plugged or used with a 1/2" hose presents no additional o-rings. I use an adapter so that I use the port with the 3/8" hose and that adds one more static o-ring.... Oh No! What have I done?!? Will I die???

I use a DS4 on my singles rig and DS4s on my doubles. I wouldn't like the swivel for back gas either.

I'm in the process of switching everything over to DS4's -- only two to go!! I wouldn't have a problem using a DST for a stage/deco bottle, but I want to have everything standardized.

Good luck.

Are the DS4's all 300 bar, because that's what I need? Do I need to specify when ordering?

300 DIN is the standard with 200 DIN being less common for regs. I would make absolutely sure just in case, but 300 DIN is what they are referring to most of the time.

I just got my ATX50/DS4 :thumb:.

I love my new DST, The 1/2" port ain't such a big deal and I like the turret... for a tech setup though from what I understand the DS4 is the way to go...

Diveinn.com sells the DS4 for $140
