Hi All

I have been doing a LOT of research on regs as of late, and basically all of my questions have been answered on these boards :)

BUT, there is just one small thing that I hope someone can help me with. I am looking at getting either a DS4 or ATX100 first stage, but cannot decide which one to go for. Does the fact that the DS4 has only one HP port whilst the ATX100 has 2 make a big difference? If i wanted to have an SPG AND a Vytec transmitter...it would be better to go for the ATX100 right?

Any tips or advice would really be appreciated :)

Also, just wondering if anyone from Australia has ordered stuff from Diveinn.com or leisurepro? I am thinking of grabbing a computer there and would like to hear any praise/problems people have had :)

I was in your same possition about 2 weeks ago. Also, I too obtained a lot of great information on this board. I decided to go with the DS4 myself. Your are right on, if you desire the vytec \ redundant spg set up and don't want two first stages attached to your tank you should go with the ATX100. I went with a vyper and a basic spg on my DS4.

I considered buying for the future myself, but here are my thoughts:

-why spend extra money for somthing you are not going to use (extra port) or not going to realize (enhanced performance).

-If I upgrade to a vytec and use it in recreational depths I wouldn't use a backup just call the dive if it fails. If it isn't relaible enought to do this, forget the extra complexity and cost of the vytec.

-I don't see using the vytec if you end up doing dives that requires real redundancy like dual tanks etc..

Take my comments for what they are- an opinion form a newbie.
Good luck, I don't see how you can really go wrong.

First dive on the DS4 is tomorrow!

The purpose for the dual HP port on the 100 is to solve some mounting/routing problems - you won't need both of them. If you want to have both an SPG and a Vytec, you shouldn't - eliminate the one that you don't trust and be done with it. Both are high performance, quality regulators and you won't regret purchasing either of them. I own some DS4/TX50 combinations and some ATX100 combinations and both have held up well under heavy use far beyond recreational limits. Between these two regulators for single tank yoke set-ups, my advice would be to pick the cheaper one.
