Hi,

I am planning to buy an Apeks atx50. I wanna to buy it with the DS4 first stage but Diveinn doesn´t sell them together (I am kinda short on money). So I guess I will have to buy it with the DST (it seems to be ok too by the way)

I am a little worried about the 1/2 port. I read the hoses might be a little difficult to find in some places (I live in Brazil, thats why I am worried...).

How can I convert the 1/2 port to the standart 3/8 ones? Will it be less reliable in any way?

Fabito

Buy a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter from www. leisurepro.com for <$10 US.

Or you can get a 1/2" plug from any apeks dealer if you don't need all 4 lp ports. Since you probably don't use a drysuit you could just plug the port and use the other 3 lp ports.

Thanks!
How reliable is the plug or the adaptor?

I use the adapter on my LP inflator hose on my DST - it's literally just a reducer, threaded each end with an o-ring. You're introducing a static o-ring into the airline, but it's no more likely to fail than one on an unused port, or on any other hose.

It only adds about 1/2" of extra "lump" on the end of your hose. Personally I'd rather not have the 1/2" port there at all, but Apeks knows best :(

If you want the ATX50 with the DS4, go to www.simplyscuba.co.uk - they sell them individually, and they're competitive with DiveInn once you subtract VAT of 17.5% (done automatically for overseas orders).
