I got a PM about this so thought I would share my feedback with the board.
I stayed at Apartamentu Holanda which is in Juliandorp. That is the only apartment I looked at...I did not comparison shop against anything else. I liked the central location close to a very good supermarket.
The owner, Alan (a Papiamentu guy), is probably the nicest person I have ever met in the ABCs. He was extremely hospitable and maintains the property very well. I stayed in the kitchenette apartments that have a back door to the pool. The apartments are very clean but this is a budget property. You get what you pay for.
I enjoyed it, but...I was the only white guy there at that time. Seemed to be mostly locals staying there, maybe because I was there during Ascension Day. It kind of had a "hood" feel to it if you know what I mean. Right wrong or indifferent, just stating how it made me feel as a solo white boy.
If you are traveling with a man you might want to consider it. If you are a solo woman or pair of women, I would try somewhere else. You would probably be ok saftey-wise but would probably feel uncomfortable. Hope that is helpful.
