Hi all, just burnt a couple of hours trying to test out my set up before a trip at the end of May. AOI housing with OM1 mkii.

I have tested the camera for issues, seems to be working as normal. I have charged the housing, still nothing. I have not used it for a year and wonder if I am missing something. Any ideas how to test if the infra red light (not sure about this)? is coming out of housing. I did buy new FO cables as my old ones didn't work with this housing. Q do you need to vacuum the housing before the flash will fire? Can't imaging this is an issue but did try this and made no difference.

I am trying to test a new MF2 and my standard SnS D2J flash.

Some systematic troubleshooting may yield the most useful results. I would approach it something like:

Do the strobes power on properly? (You hear them powering up, target lights work)

Can you trigger them manually via their optical ports? (use a powerful flashlight and shine it briefly into the optical ports - they should fire)

Try the same test but connect the optical cables and shine the flashlight through the optical cables

-Connect the flash to the OM1 body.
-Verify the flash is firing outside the housing
-Check the flash power settings in the camera menu.
-Hold the optical cable up to the flash and fire the flash - does the strobe fire?

Then, try them in the housing. These tests may be easiest with the strobes set to manual, the camera set to manual, and the camera's flash set to always fire. TTL is usually not helpful for troubleshooting. Once you get everything working on manual, you can switch troubleshooting TTL, if desired.

Thanks Brian, very helpful. Re -Connect the flash to the OM1 body. Any ideas how to do this as it the housing has a flash trigger system. I have tested the EM1 mk 2 with an external flash and it works.

I hope it ain't the trigger system not working.

Just found out what is wrong. I had grabbed two cables that were not infrared compatible ones. Stupid! so I have put them in plastic bag marked do not use!
