Still trying to decide what camera to get - is anyone using the G9 with either the Epoque or Inon wide angle wet lens and want to comment on the results ?

Not overly bothered with macro but is anyone using that too?

Check out EdvinEng.com - Underwater Photography - he used the G7 and is now using the G9 with double wet Inon macro lenses. Based on the great images he has I made my own adapter for my g7 canon housing. You do have to zoom in a bit. I sewed a neoprene sock that holds the lenses tight to the lense plate so I have to move it around until it's centered on the lense.

Yes, I'm using the G9 & Canon housing with Inon UCL-165 macro lens. Sometimes I stack two lenses. If you are interested in a DIY modification to fit lenses to the housing click the link below.

The canon housing is not really suitable for the Inon wide angle lens, since the length of the port means you need to zoom in to avoid port vignetting. The Ikelite and Patima housings have short ports that can be fitted to the housing and avoid the problem.

I think Ed is still using velcro to hold his Inon lenses on, as he has bayonet fit lenses and can't make use of my modification. Though he does take excellent photos with it.

Yes, I bought the bayonet fit lenses as well before you came about with your nifty adapter. I don't want to give up on $350 worth of lenses.

i think fun-in.com.tw has adaptors for the canon g9 housing for the inon ucl-165 macro lens.

I am using the G9 with the Ikelite housing and short port and Ikelite wide angle lens. Like you, I'm more interested in wide angle so I leave the lens on most of the time, and only remove it for the occasional macro shot. It screws right onto the Ikelite housing and I mount it while still on the boat, and have never had issues with bubbles, as I always dunk in the fresh water rinse tank before taking it down.
