Can anyone comment on the Spanish Bay Reef Resort, on Grand Caymen? We are planning a trip in May and will book there at the advice of another couple we travel with. Any feedback? Thx.

Two years ago we had just been certified in Cayman and were driving around taking a break. Came across SBR and stopped to check it out.
Nice lobby with an inside dining area, then an outside dining area around the pool. The rooms were scattered around the property in a sort of motel set-up.
We decided to dive the reef there as a shore dive. The dive shop set us up with tank, BCDs and Regs. The equipment was fairly old but functional. The entrance was easy from a protected cove. The first reef is an moderate swim with bouy markers. Nice little wall. There is a second wall that was further out and deeper that we did not go to.
The beach area was sandy and looked very comfortable.
Hope this helps, enjoy Cayman.

for your reply. I was hoping to find someone that could provide some feedback.

thx.

We did a shore dive from the beach next to there in September. Fairly nice area and the diving was good, but it's kinda hard to find bad diving in Cayman.

Dive Tech at Cobalt Coast runs a first class operation and is just down the road. You might want to call or email them about other diving options.

There was another thread not too long ago about this same area. You might check the archives for additional info.

May chk them out. I'm sure we will have to book some boat dives and as of yet have failed to hear back from the resort operator.
Thx.
