MBB -

I have been making annual trips to Bonaire with a group that has several who have been a dozen times. We had previously stayed at Sand Dollar, but last year decided to try Eden Beach. We will now be returning to Eden Beach. The property is very well maintained, the staff are courteous, and the dive op is great to work with.

We didn't have anything particularly against Sand Dollar itself, but were dissatisfied with the dive op, and the lack of things to do on property for non-divers.

We're not interested in the high-end properties on Bonaire. Eden Beach isn't a high end property, but it is a nice, well-managed facility. I know they've made some changes/upgrades to the dive op facility since we were there last year. We're going back to Eden Beach in a couple of weeks - I'll be glad to offer you another update after 11 Feb if you IM me and remind me.

Just a ditto on what was just said. We have been to Eden three times now and will be back for our fourth stay in March.

Stayed at Eden Beach in October....loved it. The guest are mainly European (primarily Dutch & German). My 1st week there, I was the only American....my 2nd week, an American couple joined me. I like this because typically Americans are "ugly" travelers. The place is nice and clean...they are doing a lot of upgrades to the rooms. The Dive Ops (Wannabe) is a great group...fun and helpful. Love them.

My only recommendation would be to NOT op for the breakfast meal plan. Instead eat at Bongo's. It's kind of a weird thing...the restaurant for Eden is next to the resort....Bongo's (a restaurant/bar) in the middle of the property. You’ll see that the people in the “know” will all gather at Bongo’s…nobody will be at Eden’s restaurant (except the night they have live band). Therefore, the food is fresher and much better.

Enjoy and say hello to my buddy “Eddie” at the dive shop….a funny Dutch man and a fun diver.

Eden Beach is much smaller than Buddy's and is has a wonderful beach and nice facilities. The dive op is great. The big difference between the two is the house reef. If it is important for you to have the lush reef that Sand Dollar, BDR, and Capt Dons offers you will be disappointed in the reef at EB.

There is a really neat wreck a couple of hundred yards to the south. It was a sailboat but is kind of collapsing on itself. The rest of the reef is lots of coral rubble with patches of live coral.

I've stayed at EB 4 times. I didn't return the last three times because I was unhappy the first time, quite the opposite. BTW, Wannadive is the dive op and they are crazy fun!

Enjoy!

It looks like I will be at Eden Beach from March 8 to 15. We were originally slated for BDR but our travel agent messed up and we selected EB for an alternative. The resort just doesn't matter. I'll be in Bonaire.
