Why do eggs have do be refrigerated in the US? Because they are washed to reduce salmonella, and washing them takes off an external membrane, allowing them to spoil earlier.
The chickens in Europe are vaccinated against salmonella, so the eggs don’t need to be washed and refrigerated.

Your skinny diabetic friends are likely Type I which is mostly genetic; the diabetes linked to obesity is Type II (however, recent studies suggest that obesity is linked to Type I too).

At this point is there an elderly person that is walking around without a mask? I doubt it...

Oh masks don't work? Stay home or take your chances...

I guess that would be me. I wear a mask to get service, like shirts and shoes other than that I keep my distance and wash my hands. No flu vac for me as usual, I donate mine to someone more deserving.

I truly should not care if any adult gets the flu shot after all before covid, influenza was a big money maker for the urgent care systems here in the US. Flu visits would fill our lobby during flu season with sick individuals furthering the spread while seeking cures for a viral illness (at least that is one bonus-Americans have finally awakened to the fact that there is no cure for a virus. Of course this just means that their covid symptoms are “sinusitis” but I digress).

Yes, there are antiviral medications but they are of limited effectiveness and have relatively high side effects. I find it ironic that the same persons that are so adamantly against flu shots, because they either don’t work or cause unreasonable risks, actively seek drugs for treatment that often have little benefit and a known higher risk for side effects (and cost).

While admittedly anecdotal, my daily observation of patients mirrors this. It's usually the conspiracy-theory spinners that come in with cancer that they let progress to stage 4 because they've been down in Mexico getting shark liver oil treatments or some $hit - and NOW we're supposed to save their ass with western medicine. And they usually have a list of "supplements" and want to know if any of them interact with their chemo. :tired: I got one such list this very morning - I'm currently looking at it on my desk. Two of the good ones on this list are "youTheory Tumeric 1000mg" and "Nature's Way liquid chlorophyll".

I find it very difficult to find sympathy for them, even when I realize that they somehow came to believe in these alternative treatments so strongly that they literally bet their life on it. It's a losing bet every time. I see it constantly. If an "alternative" treatment proves itself to be safe and effective, we use it! And then it's no longer "alternative".
