I'm considering the Seaquest Libra, but they don't really have a great photo on their website. I'm wondering about the number and types of pockets it has...I hope to get a look at it in person soon, but hopefully someone can help me out in the meantime...

Thanks a bunch!

Wifie dives the Libra (haven't gotten her to drink the Kool-aid, yet.)

Its basically a Balance for chicks.

Same minimalist design. Back inflate, ditchable weights, trim weight pockets, a couple of bent Drings on the shoulders. There are no pockets - there is a pull down mesh pocket on the right - but that's it.

If I wasn't diving a BP/W, I'd be diving a Balance. I loved that BC. This is the same thing with shorter straps (the padded straps that come over your shoulder, don't come down your torso as far) to fit a woman's body.

Anytime I can dispense ladieswear advise, I'm please to do it... I guess. On the third floor we have hand bags, belts and shoes...

Did I just say hand bag? I need to shake myself.

Thanks for your help, y'all. I'm starting to think the Diva is more the way to go for me. I need pockets!

Mo--you did say hand bag--I don't even say hand bag!! ;)

Oops, can't seem to get logged in at me (gillyweed_girl)--stupid cookies!

Anyway, its me, not my husband, in the above post.

If I can't get the Zena to fit I'm going to go for a Libra I think. I liked the minimalist nature of it at the front - not much to it! But thats what I like.

The Libra roll down pocket is rather large and is on your right side. The range of strap adjustments makes it perfect for those hard to fit types. It has enough adjustment for my wife for wet or dry suit use. The lift is 30 pounds (for the medium size). The tanks are stablized nicely and require onlly one strap. The power inflator is also extremely nice and easy on the smaller female hands. Enjoy!

I am a newbie, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I have the Libra and have no problems with it so far. The pocket is indeed huge and there are knife grommets on the left side, which I thought was a nice feature. Lumbar support (self-adjusting) was also a nice touch.

FWIW, I am a woman diving with the Balance (men's version of the Libra). This is my first BC that I purchased used with only a few dives on it. I used it for a week on my first dive trip and I am definitely not happy with it. I had previously dove with a jacket style BC in my OW classes. I am now considering the Diva LX because it has features that I now know that I want that the Balance lacks such as a cumberbund, right and left shoulder dumps as well as a right rear dump and stainless steel D rings. I do like the hybrid nature of the Diva better also. If you have a chance to try the Libra in the water, look for tank instability as in shifting from side to side, an inability to lift the inflator as high as you'd like due to the retainer strap being too low on the BC and air trapped in the bladder while trying to dump in a horizontal position. I found I almost always had to be vertical to vent efficiently. One more thing to look for is the ability to place the tank lower on the BC so that the first stage is not hitting you in the head. Maybe the Libra is different but if it is simply the women's version of the Balance, these are things to look for. Good Luck!

After years of diving with a back inflation mens BC I finally purchased the Diva LX last year. I love it. Not only is it a much better fit and more comfortable to wear, I have also been able to drop 4# of weight with it. Hubby says its because I can even the weights out with the Diva where wih my old one I could only use weight belt or the weight drop pockets (not weight intergrated) that were on the front of it. The only problem that I had in getting used to the Diva was having a single tank band where my old BC had dual tank bands. I sometimes felt like the tank was rolling to one side. It wasn't, but it just felt like it was.
