What can you do with all of your video or stills to turn them into
something
others can appreciate?
In a roundabout way of answering this and other questions, Jim Thompson,
(not
just an imaginary friend) will be visiting the San Francisco Reef Divers
this
Wednesday evening, looking at production and technical questions for the
digitally minded.
Jim will be showing clips of the recently released "Discover California
Diving," a project compiling the efforts of local videographers such as
Alan
Studley, Clinton Bauder, Alberto Nava, and countless others working
tirelessly
behind the scenes (including cameo appearances by Pat Lovejoy, Chuck
Tribolet, Jim
Capwell, Dan Gotshall, and other notables).
While using "California Diving" as an example of "what do we do with our
attempts at underwater video?" Jim will have lots to talk about.
There are scores of photographers and videographers out there in our
underwater world. We get to see some of their work from time to time.
Sometimes the
efforts are raw and uncut, but most of us will watch any movie,
documentary, or
60-second clip of anything having to do with the ocean or diving.
Some of us have taken pictures, shot some video, but composing it into
something worth sharing with friends or presenting to a larger audience
can be a
complex and daunting venture.
Bring a question.
Stop by the San Francisco Reef Divers, 7:30 PM, Wednesday @ Sinbad's on
the
Embarcadero, San Francisco (next to the Ferry Building).
