Doing a Palau liveaboard (9/8 Tropic Dancer) followed by a few days in Truk Lagoon. Flight home on 9/20 leaves from Guam->Honolulu->Houston->Philly. Trying to get information about the first flight from Guam as it changes planes in Hololulu, but it's the same flight #. United Airline's customer service is horrendous. I've gotten three different answers to the same question. When I first booked it, I selected my seats for GUM/HNL and it wouldn't let me pick seats for the HNL/IAH leg of UA200. Phone rep told me that I have the same seats for both legs since it's the same flight #. Recently, I was thinking of upgrading to Economy Plus (to get better leg room for the long flights) and wanted to know if the price applied to both legs. Now they are telling my I do not have assigned seats for the second leg. I still cannot select seats on-line. Now they are telling me I have to get my seats at the airport. I finally got a supervisor and then she told me I have to check in at Honolulu (with a 1.5 hour connection, are you nuts?) to get my seats. I like to try and get window seats (solely due to United's new boarding zone process window/middle/aisle order).

Long story short, has anyone flown this connection recently? And, how were your seat assigments done (same seats, both legs?) ? Just worried about the typical overhead bin space issue for the carry on (camera gear, reg's, etc.).

Just flew this route in June and we also were unable to select seats on one of those legs, can't remember if it was coming or going, but we were confirmed and got on the plane without problem. However, a major word of caution, even though it may be the same flight number, you have to deplane in Honolulu, go through passport control and customs, pick up your luggage, put it on a trolley and recheck it, then go outside the Honolulu airport, back through regular security and then go to your gate. It's a ridiculous process as this all took at least an hour as the luggage took forever to come up. They were holding the plane for us and a few others because our flight was delayed out of Guam, though we didn't know that until after we literally ran to the gate and had only minutes to spare. So I don't believe with your connection time you will have much time to select seats in Hawaii, but it's possible you will have to check in again.

Just flew it after two great weeks on the Thorfinn, I was issued different seats in Truk but possibly could have asked for the same ones but I reckon you get what you get from united. Maybe you can check in on line within 24hrs of flying and choose seats, maybe check that out. Great flights though, and terrific time on the Liveaboard.

I suspect it is operated by the old Continental Micronesia group. Look on United's website and see if there is a separate customer service number for the Micronesia passengers. If so, they may be able to assign seats.
