Visibility at Looe Key and American Shoals has been lousy all week, and we've heard a couple of times from Key West shops that it's been no better at the Vandenberg.

Did anyone try the Vandenberg or anywhere else in the Lower Keys today and find decent visibility? Getting down to the last couple of days. Appears the weather may be lousy for several days anyway.

Thus is ocean diving. Even the places with the “best” conditions can be blown out for weeks on end.

Define Lousy? I have heard divers in the Keys complain about 20-30 ft of viz which is not bad in my book. Not awesome, but not bad.

10-20 on a coral reef is tolerable. 5-10 on a deep wreck like the Vandy is getting thumbable

The wind witch doesn’t care about your vacation....

Dive the Vandy, hire a guide, and penetrate it. Viz up and down may suck, but its always clear on the inside:).

Big waste of time and money. Especially with the cost of a guide (~$150) on top of the already overpriced dive trip. I did this wreck last year with a guide and the visibility was 5-10. Could barely see a railing at arms length. So what you can see a bit better inside, all you're looking at is walls and murky water.
