After my last dive I noticed some of the lead shot loose in my weight carry bag. I inspected my weights and noticed that a couple of threads were cut and allowing some of the shot out. Any suggestions for repairing? I could just sew it up, but I would be concerned that the area will just start tearing.

I also have an old weight belt that someone gave me that is full of soft pouches that are completely deteriorated. Do they make replacement pouches?

Any help would be appreciated.

I've used dental floss (the waxed kind, since that's what I have) and it works well. It's wide enough that it holds without tearing back through and the stuff is surprisingly resilient to salt water and weathering. Dental floss also works well for sewing-up wetsuits.

Duct tape. I cut the bags to remove shot and tape shut. Try to wrap the tape around at least to overlap itself.

How about some aquaseal or similar to reinforce the fabric, it works very well for soft pouches made of urethane, and some nylon thread from the nylon thread shop which it was stitched together with in the first place and if required you can also use it to fix your suits, or BCs or bags or other things.

I second the dental floss. With a whip stitch, the repair will be fast. If you put the stitches really close together on the ends of the tear, it will help to prevent further ripping.
