Living in Boston area loooking for something not too far an not too expensive. We usually spen a good amount of cash on vacations but are now realizing that skimping will get us more dives ;) We have Done, Belize, Indonesia and Virgin Gorda and are looking for someplace new. Any suggestions?

P.S. I feel we still have a lot to learn, only around 12 dives, so nothing too technical. And YES.....we are warm water wusses

I'm a newbie too and my next major trip is a Blackbeard liveaboard in February. I expect to get a vast ammount of dives for my money and learn lots. I say my next major trip, because I still hold out hope for diving between now and then - but I don't have dry suit yet!

Another newbie diver here, planning a long weekend in the Keys in January. Not sure what the temp will be, but I need water!!!

Suggestion: wear a dry suit.

I thought about it but I think I have been spoiled by the great visibility. I have been fortunate enough to start with some of the clearest diving spots and can't see diving low vis or cold water.

I live on Long Island not to far from you. The vis is not that bad around here a good day will yield about 20 ft. in the Long Island Sound and the water temp. is a balmy 40 degree's.:D Once you get used to diving around here there is no comparison to any place else. Besides if I only went to the tropics I would never be able to go diving and then I'd be sad.

Assuming that they are up and operating, Cozumel is a good, low cost destination for a new diver. You may also want to look at the Bahamas.

Other ideas are Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Bonaire, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Sea of Cortez, Turks and Caicos, Florida Keys and many more.

Out of that list I’ve only been to Bonaire and Cozumel and was happy with both.
