GinMill...we are going back on Wednesday...if you are flying AJ you will definitely see us! We are leaving from Philly...connecting in Montego Bay. They have a little paper that gives the weeks agenda at the airport in Bonaire, pick one up and it will tell you what is going on. I know that everyone is getting ready for Carnivale! We also know of some great Bonairetalk dinners on Tuesday nights.

You will recognize us on the plane as my husband is a large tall bald (balding and shaven) and I have a bit of a red "bob" bob cut. My thin tall, cross between JFK and Tom Cruise looking son will be travelling with us. Would love to hook up with you guys!

We have been in summer and November, a few turtles and sharks. Anyone see any whale sharks lately? We'll be at Buddy. My buddy is the gorgeous bald guy.

Geez it is too early. I hit submit half way thru. We'll also be at the Tuesday BonaireTalk joint. My husband is the OTHER gorgeous bald guy.

I hear there is a lot of theft on Bonaire now. If you rent a car to shore dive they break into your car and steal spare tires or any thing that you have in the car? I hear further that the car agencies may be in on it to get the $500 deductible ins. People that rent homes for the week are most at risk of break-ins while they are out. This is kept kind of quiet by Bonaire Toursit Board, for obvious reasons. Police, I'm told, are USELESS. Be mindful while there and don't leave things around unguarded. A ounce of prevention.............................

Theft can be a problem but shouldn't have to be...
Have a look here: http://www.scubaboard.com/t58650-.html

it's a shame that a place that has such good diving has turned into a den of thieves. Divers need to be mindful and not leave ANYTHING unguarded. The island is so small you'd think the feckless "police" could do something, IF THEY WANTED TO. There are so many other places to go in the Caribbean that are safer that i'ts a shame divers keep going back to get stuff stolen. At what point do divers avoid the place and give the Bonarians something to think about? If they don't fix the problem why should you go there to get your stuff stolen, or room burglarized?

We went last november for 10 days (party of 25 (non)-divers), 6 rental cars, only shore dives, no incidents whatsoever.
We just took the regular precautions:
* Leave nothing of value in the car;
* Doors unlocked.
