My brother died less than a month ago. He was a novice diver with maybe 10 to 20 dives. I am a skydiver not a scuba diver. It appears that he bought a full rig. Wet suit, vest, computer, regulator. The local dive shops do not take used gear. Any advice on what to do with this gear? Knowing him, he would have bought good quality gear but not being a diver myself I don't know what I''m looking at. I would prefer not to sell it piece by piece because I don't even know what all the pieces are called or their value. Everything appears to be in excellent condition because of so few dives. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey man, really sorry to hear about that, places to sell it could be as a bulk lot on craigs list, scubaboard, ebay or something like that.

In terms of finding a decent price to put it up for I guess it would help if we knew the brands etc. I'm sure people on this site will help you with that but they will certainly need to know specific makes and models of the equipment, pics could resolve any confusion if the make/model is not clear.

I personally will happily try to help you get a strting price but bearing in mind I am not from the states I have no idea what used equipment sells for. Either way the first step is to find the makes and models, you could then look up on ebay etc to find what they have been selling at to give you an idea

If you'd be able to send pics I could tell you what the gear is, what the approx cost new was, and what you might be able to get for it. Dive gear involves a great deal of personal choice and taste. I can pretty much assure you that piecing it out will sell it faster and likely bring a bigger return. Sorry for your loss. You can contact me privately through my website or via PM here. I may also know a couple people in Columbus who you could talk to as well. I used to live out there and have few instructor friends who are not on this message board.

Definately agree with the other post. Scuba gear does sell rather quickly especially when its used due to the fact new gear is pricey. It also depends on a few other things such as brand and how maintained.

Give the guys above a chance to work with you or check back at the local shops and inform them you want to sell it your self and not through them since they dont sale used gear. They may be able to give you an expected price range. Then I would suggest selling on ebay simply because if its quality name brand gear there may be a large return on it due to the bidding process. Never know........

Best of luck to you and sorry for your loss
