I'm a Fish!
...the past couple of years (this time of year) thresher sharks about 250 yards off shore completely jumping out of the water. I witnessed this again two weeks ago. I saw two threshers aprrox. 5' body length (not including the long caudal tail) jump completely out of the water.

Two days later a brown pelican washed in, still alive, with its right wing bitten off at the "elbow" and a bite out of its right flank about 4" wide. I was thinking it maybe a thresher bite but have never heard them of attacking birds before. I thought they were strictly fish eaters? Maybe it was something else?

I am just excited to be diving now and to possibly witness some of this behavior underwater as opposed to just glimpses from the surface and some evidence that occasionally washes in.

Well, another animal to be put on your list then. :D

threshers are awesome, I saw one uw at Tulumben while diving the USS liberty
