Long time reader, finally joined.

Certified around 2021, I've split my diving between the South Puget Sound (Seattle WA area, cold, dark, dry), and tropical.

Call myself a newbie but take diving seriously, so far 270 dives in 3 years and diving multiple times weekly if possible. My other hobby is ridiculous running through mountains when able. I believe in being as self reliant as possible, and if I can mitigate risk as much as possible to avoid being a bad story, then that's a success.

Also I carry a gopro & a backscatter macro 15x lens and attempt to get good stuff, need to dust off the TG6 I inherited from my wife/dive buddy when she upgraded, attempting to put together adventures on youtube, good for info but I'm a horrible video editor :D

I actually loved diving in the puget sound, sure it's cold and the drysuit is bulky, but so much life and great people. Not complaining though, now living in Hawaii

Aloha...welcome aboard. Which island in HI?

Welcome.

270 dive “newbie!” Wow, that’s many more dives than I see in many of the DM and even instructor candidates

Try out that TG6, I think you’ll be impressed by how much better the stills look

Well you know, all of my training was in the Puget Sound, so being around very experienced tech Divers, I NEVER want to claim to be an expert lol

My wife's done pretty great with the tg6 & now 7, I'll have to find the photo forum here and share my gopro stuff, occasionally ok stuff with the macro lens

Good stuff for photo and video. I have a few on my youtube channel. Here's a fun video of some South Kona footage.

Dude, you're a seasoned pro magnificent!

But rid yourself of this running as your body still needs to carry you around unbroken for decades
long after the running when it can't run anymore whether you wore it out from the running or not

Under the sea, and 2-3 hours into a run, both are highly therapeutic but in wildly different ways.

Both are based on the desire to push myself and explore new places

Plus road running is what destroys your body, trail running is much different :D just some additional risks
