I just joined and am learning my way around. Newly certified in April and 11 dives in so far. (Actually certified first in 1970, but never went diving after -- not much deep water in Iowa! The equipment has sure improved in 35 years!). Had to stay dry for 2 months because of jaw surgery, but I'm back in the water.
My biggest challenge (except for buoyancy, breath control, navigation and a few other skills) is finding dive buddies, but this seems to be a good place to begin.

Hey Frank!
I'm from the Tri-Cities on the eastside so I'm probably not dive buddy material - sort of a long commute - but I wanted to welcome you as one newbie to another. We come over to Langly and Keystone to certify from Kennewick, Pasco and Richland and there is a class over there pretty much every first weekend of the month. Have you been to either of those spots? I'll bet you have!
Best of luck in your pursuit - and know that we have a good club here, but the Columbia is sort of a hairy dive spot - current and NO visibility! Add COOOOOLD and you have it!

welcome aboard

Frank, welcome to scuba and to ScubaBoard!

There are quite a few Seattle area divers in the Orca Bait forum. I'm in Woodinville, and it is one of my particular pleasures to dive with new divers, in part because of the great kindness I was shown when I was new, and in part because I get to see the underwater world through a novice's eyes again! Please feel free to shoot me a PM and let me know what your diving schedule is. When I'm unavailable, my husband (a PADI divemaster) may be up for a dive.

We're coming into the best season for visibility and life in the Sound -- you picked a good time to get back in the water!

Thanks for the welcome! I see your posts all over this board. Hope to dive with you one of these days.
