Boy airlifted in dive incident

A 16-year-old boy was diving on a hookah rig in about 10 feet of water with two other juveniles at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday near Outdoor Resorts on Long Key when he lost consciousness.

The other juveniles noticed he boy was unresponsive and alerted the boy’s father, who began performing CPR. Sheriff’s Office deputies reported the boy was breathing again upon their arrival.

The Trauma Star helicopter landed on Long Key Bridge and flew the boy to Miami.

The boy’s condition as of late Tuesday afternoon was not immediately clear.
