Now that we are heading into the Fall diving season.. it's a great time to start thinking about Halloween, and underwater pumpkin carving!
The event will be held Saturday, Oct-23. Tides are rather nice that weekend for New River Beach, and there is time to do your own dive before or after the carving!
Here is the tentative schedule for the day.. and remember this is a no-charge event!! Just plan to come with a pumpkin, and have some fun!
10am - Meet at the Beach (Tommy's Cove)
11am - In the water Carving Pumpkins!!
12:30 - Hotdog BBQ, hot drinks (coffee, hot chocolate)
1:30 - Prizes!!!
2pm'ish - Wrap it up for the day
The rules are pretty simple... you must use a dive knife, the carving must be completed underwater including removing the top!, the top must come back with you, and no pre-drawing the pumpkin
Buddy teams are recommended, and the dive is great for newcomers to diving as well. Those who have done this before know the pumpkins are extremely buoyant, so extra weight is a good idea!
As in previous years, we are canvassing local shops and clubs looking for freebies to use as prizes.
You don't really need to register for the event but it would sure help us with planning. To register for the event, simply post here or sign up on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=147351245300925&ref=mf). And please pass it on to anyone else who may be interested!
