does anyone know anything about "Andy's " dry suits. I ran across one and have never heard of them. Are they a good suit?

I've been using an Andy's DS3 for about three years. I have not had any problems.

IMHO, they are an excellent suit that can be purchased for a reasonable price.

But with any drysuit, fit is everything.

They all have valves, zippers and seals. You're shopping fit first, then features.

A ton of my friends dive Andys, as do a lot of people on this board. But even the "best" suit is worthless if it doesn't fit.

An Andy's DS3 in the Ultra fabric with across the chest zipper and I just picked up a DS1 with around the shoulders back zip in the extreme fabric.

I also have a DUI CF200 and have had other shell suits including a couple of vulcanized (Viking and Gates.)

Hands down the Andy's are my favorites. I had purchased the CF200 (the second one I've had) because I holed the Andy's Ultra on a man-eating barnacle.

However it seemed most dives I always reached for the Andy's (repaired) much to Shane's chagrine. He has a CF200 and wondered why I didn't dive mine more.

Last week I let him borrow one of my Andy's suits. He wants an Andy's now. :D

Mo2vation once bubbled...
But even the "best" suit is worthless if it doesn't fit.
Look at my profile picture and you will see Shane and I standing on the swim grid of Uncle Pug.

You will notice the height disparity. The suit I am wearing is the Andy's DS3 and Shane is wearing his DUI CF200.

That same Andy's DS3 is the one that I loaned Shane. True his arms were four inches too long for the sleeves and stuck out past the dry glove rings 4" to the point he wondered if the gloves would pop off... but the suit fit him otherwise (well his toes did complain about the need for a longer berth.)

Now I'm not saying that fit doesn't matter... it does... but I just couldn't resist this one. :D

Actually, if you read Mo2's reply, he is referring to "fir" not "fit"..

I may be taking this too fir, but let the fir fly...

Ken

PS. On topic, I dive the DS3 in extreme nylon and love it. I had Andy add a balanced p valve. I use his undies too...

You mean fir isn't everything....?

Dang.

I linked your *money shot* into my man-eating barnacle story... and I have it as the wallpaper on my laptop too.

That is my all time favorite photo of the pass. It reminds me of an Ansel Adams shot!

I'm glad you didn't get hit by a car running across the bridge to get it. :D
