How good dive buddies make great friends!
I hooked up with my buddy TJack (full time ski instructor at Taos) at Loveland to do some skiing! This was my first day out (very sad). I had forgotten how good skiing is! We often take for granted what we have in our front yard.
We had a fabulous day. It was me, Tjack, and my long time knuckle dragger buddy, and coworker Tim (non-diver).
We were all amazed at the conditions. It snowed all day, and while the snow was transitional, we got fresh tracks a plenty. Tjack was happy because me and Tim don't suck!
Tim was thrilled because he was boarding last weekend, and his knees were hurting after 1 hour, but not today! He knocked down at least 10 good runs with no pain (his knees are bad after blowing them out doing multiple sports).
I was thrilled because I also skied a solid day, am in better ski shape that I feared after not doing much skiing in the last two years.
I was also psyched that my long time Ski buddy is not done with skiing! :bang:
A most excellent day spent on the company of good friends, and beautiful mountain air and awesome Vistas even if it was overcast and snowing most of the time. This is a day I won't forget.
BTW: Lift Lines at Loveland were non-existent, and on a Saturday. The skiing at the top is most definitely open (similar to Abasin at the top), but also like most RMO area's, there is a lot of treed areas after the top 1000 feet or so. There was a lot of fresh!
I had forgot how good Loveland can be, and it's also 30 minutes closer than most resorts with the parking lot right next to the lifts (what a concept!). The pow was boot deep, and transitional, but wow, what fun! TJack even extended his ski time, and this dude skis almost daily! I think I'll do more time at Loveland, assuming I ski more!
