Dove with them about three years ago. Small well-equipped boats. Back-roll entry. Bouyed dive sites. Ride to the dive sites is less than ten minutes. The diving was pretty good for the Virgin Islands. There is a decent little wall right off the Salt River outlet. Lots of nurse sharks, eels and spotted drums. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked them a lot and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Where are you staying? We rented a house right above the Salt River harbor. It was nice to only have to drive two minutes to get to the dive shop and then have such a short boat ride. Let me know if I can be of any other help.

We dove with Dive Experience, and they were fantastic. Nice size boat (no back roll entries!) with good amenities. Great crew, and very flexible. Most dive sites on St. Croix are just a few minutes from the harbor. Dont miss the wall dives if you have good bouyancy control. They were my favorites.

If you really want to do a nice shore dive, check out Cane Bay. You swim out about 75 yards (we did it on the suface), and then drop down a bouy chain to about 40 feet. Then continuing in the same direction you get to the edge of the wall. Same wall as I referred to above. You can return (if you have enough gas) by swimming back up a gradual slope and do your safety stops while cruising the sand slope.

I've heard that the pier in Frederikstead is a great dive also when the cruise ship are not it. Check with the shops in that end of St. Croix.

Dive safe,

Jack

Thanks both of you guys for the info. I'm not sure where we're staying yet as I'm doing an exchange through RCI for a timeshare. I may have a few more questions when I do if you don't mind. Thanks again. TedJ

I had the pleasure of diving with Anchor Dive Center in St. Croix the last two weeks of January this year. Anchor Dive rates an A+ and the diving was simply spectacular. I made 16 dives with Anchor, including an AOW course and DPV specialty. The instructors and the DM’s were awesome: totally professional, courteous, and friendly. Anchor Dive had just expanded and opened their new operation at the Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino when I was staying there. The Divi resort was excellent with beautifully new and clean rooms, good restaurants, live entertainment every night, casino, and brand new dive boat departing from the dock.

Overall an A+ experience, I was really impressed by both Anchor Dive center and the Divi Carina Bay Resort. I would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.
