Anabolic Steroids and Diving

Apart from the usual side-effects of taking anabolic steroids, are there any additional side-effects/risks of diving while taking anabolic steroids? A friend of mine is a bodybuilder who wants to take up scuba diving as a hobby and is not sure of the risks. Thanks

There are few medical indications for this class of drug, and their abuse for non-medical reasons is incredibly foolish.

Used improperly, they can be quite dangerous to the liver, reproductive system & cardiovascular system. In addition, they can cause behavioral & mood abnormalities such as aggressivity & violence, depression, and even acute psychosis.

In an individual abusing anabolic steroids in the pursuit of body building, I'd say the primary limiting factor to scuba would be the lack of judgement & good sense implied therein.

When you are on the juice you tend to be really aggressive and (at least in my case) you tend to take more risks.

I would be really careful to plan the dive and dive the plan and be ready to leave him on the bottom if he does stupid stuff that endangers you.

Hard to say without knowing him and how much juice he's taking.

I agree with DocVikingo on the foolishness of long term use of steroids for body building. A lot of risk for short term gain.
