With different roads, parking, and airport I allowed lots of buffering and got checked in an hour early. Better than an hour late.

I should sleep well on the planes. My mask will muffle my snoring, right.

LATER: I should be halfway to DFW, but I’m still in Amarillo. The plane finally got here, but not boarding yet. No way I'll make my connection. Cancun is calling.

I gave up.

There's no way they can get me to Cozumel or Cancun today. I've had enough adventure travel. I'm heading home. I'll file claims there.

It's unfortunate that you allowed a one day delay due to a summer thunderstorm cancel your trip. Got back Saturday (normally return on Tuesday but due the new normal and tight flights I returned early) but I did get in 6 days of excellent diving.

Yeah, it was more than just that, but I felt it was time to punt.

I get it. Vacay is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable, not a test in patience and hoop jumping.
I keep telling myself that Travel is an Adventure, but the thrill ran out. 200 mile round trip to the airport. My bags will be delivered someday, but not today as I gave them my home phone number, then got home to find it down the rest of the day.

I was going to ask you why you have a landline then I remembered where you live...:shakehead:

I hope that you have a Happy Birthday

An Amarillo agent told me that my bags went to DFW even tho I didn't, but she would have them returned to her station later Monday for delivery Tuesday. Not hearing from anyone today, I tracked them on the airline website and saw that they were still in DFW so got on the phone. I know of no way to call that station, if there is, then it's a well guarded secret, and I didn't have a claim number like one might get on lost bags - just the agents worthless promise, but I called the main number for baggage and she got a specialist to call me. I have his email addy and phone number in case I need it again!

He explained that it would not be best to return the bags to Amarillo since I am closer to Lubbock as they might turn around and resend them via DFW again to Lubbock and who knows what all could go wrong. He suggested having them shipped to Lubbock for delivery out of there. I kept tracking the bags, found an odd entry that they'd been flown to Cozumel today even tho the airline doesn't fly there on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this month, but finally later tonight they now track as arrived in Lubbock! Well, that's closer. Hopefully someone will call in the morning about a delivery, but if not - I do have that contact!

Who knows? I might plan a dive trip someday and need all of that gear again. I still have work to do on refunds of the ticket and luggage fees, to watch that the reserved hotel does not try to charge me for more than the first night, and maybe I haven't thought of everything yet. I did cancel my dentist appointment and the PDC to Cancun van for next week.

Man, really a chitty happening! Even with a tenth of the workload, they can still screw with our minds!

I guess the wife and I just got plain lucky?
