We are going to spent 4 weeks in the Moluku islands in November. The plan is to dive with Bluemotion in Ambon and Banda for a week each. Are there any interesting things to see beside the much talked about fantastic underwater world ?? Ceram Manusella NP ? Some old fort ? Appreciate every suggestion.
By the way : How was the malaria situation there recently ??

I did a 1 day jungle tour (just a drive through the hills) of Ambon Island. It was pretty fantastic. Nutmeg, cloves and endless fruits! It's no wonder why the Dutch slaughtered the locals to gain control. The tour guide was highly recommending the multi day tour to Ceram.
I toured the fort(s) at Banda. Took about 1 hour. Other than enjoying the fantastic topside scenery, not sure what else there would be to do on the Banda Isles.

????????

Apart from Fort Belgica, which I suppose you are refering to :take a boat to visit Banda Besar nutmeg plantations, climb on top Fort Hollandia to watch the beauty of the Banda islands, climb the Api volcano, get a ferry to Pulau Ai, snorkel on any of its beaches and visit thequaint villages built on the ruins of Fort revenge, walk along Bandaneira old houses and visit the Hatta museum, eat the best indonesian food you may experience at Abba's Mutiara guesthouse, visit the local Bandaneira market, have teh curiosity to take the ferry to check out Pulau Run which was once traded against Manhattan.

The Banda islands are living history of the roots of the western civilization between XIIth and XVIIIth century, it explains the fall of Venice republic, the fall of Constantinople, the rise of the Dutch VOC commercial power and why Manhattan is not eating shrimp crockets right now. This is quite ignorant to say it's only one hour worth on Fort Belgica.

do you remember the name of the ceram tour operator ? did you take malaria prophylaxe or just stand by medikation ? Thanks
